Feature request: Allow adding Vantage objects while using Live Link with Rhino
Hi Chaos team,
I’d like to suggest an important improvement for the Rhino + Vantage Live Link workflow:
Please allow users to add and keep objects directly inside Vantage while Live Link with Rhino is active.
Right now, once Live Link is enabled, the Vantage scene seems to be fully controlled by the Rhino model. I cannot really add objects directly in Vantage and keep them as part of the live scene.
This makes it impossible to see the final composed image during Live Link.
In many cases, I don’t want to add everything inside Rhino. Some elements are not supported or messy to manage there, for example:
VDB files
particle effects
atmosphere / volume elements
complex .vrmesh assets with many materials
Rhino is for architectural modeling, but it is not the best place to manage all final visualization assets. Managing many complex external assets directly in the Rhino file quickly becomes messy.
So the ideal workflow would be:
Rhino Live Link updates the architectural model
+
Vantage keeps local scene assets such as VDB and scatter objects.
This feels very intuitive, and other real-time renderers already support this kind of workflow. The fact that Vantage cannot do this during Live Link feels like a major missing piece.
I think this is a key step to make Vantage a more complete architectural visualization workflow, especially for Rhino users.
I really hope this can be improved in upcoming versions.
Thanks.
